My name is Vihaan Ashish Goyal, and if you ever opened the back cover of one of my school notebooks, you'd likely end up seeing more doodles than notes. While teachers taught formulas and theories, I used to find myself doodling on the sides, or on desks, using my pen. Not because I was not paying attention, but because I always understood things better when I could visualize. Since childhood, drawing and designing was my way of making sense of the world.
For me art provided the starting point, design provided the direction.
The spark that set me off towards graphic and product design arrived in a slightly more modern appearance. I've always been inspired by the bold, simple lines of football posters their minimalist dynamism attracted me. I started collecting them, studying how a limited colour palette and forms could freeze movement, feeling, and passion. In the same way, I was interested in minimal packaging how minimalism could be affecting. These visual encounters introduced a desire to learn about design as a practice. That's when it hit me design is not about how things look, it's about how they feel, how they function, and how they connect with people.
One of my packaging design works blends visual appeal with functionality, enhancing brand identity and consumer satisfaction. IKEA Jämlik Candle Packaging design focuses on sustainable materials, minimalistic design and clear approach with innovative packaging that will stand out on the shelves. This design balances aesthetics and practicality, as the candle doesn’t come with a box the packaging will definitely create a memorable unboxing experience and reinforce product value.
I always found my strength in design and art. It wasn't easy balancing my academic studies and my creative interest. I'm also a competitive football player and have been a keen defender for 2–3 years now. I've also played football and volleyball at a district level. Sports have instructed me in flexibility, discipline, and teamwork principles that I think are just as applicable to design as they are to the sport.
I am especially interested in typography and illustration in graphic design. How fonts can convey mood, tone, and rhythm intrigues me. A single font can completely flip the meaning of a message. I spend hours refining my line work and hand lettering, trying to reach that balance between expression and clarity. Product design, too, excites me especially the way form meets function. Whether it's creating packaging that’s both practical and beautiful or designing graphics and products that are unique, I’m eager to explore how design influences behaviour. I’ve come to see design not just as an art, but as a tool one that can solve problems, tell stories, and even shift perspectives. Whether it’s a logo, a poster, a product, or a piece of graphic design has the power to communicate what words sometimes can’t. That’s what makes it so meaningful to me.
Once I finish my undergraduate program, I intend to pursue a master's in design. If opportunities for further training and specialization become available, I shall make the most out of them. If I'm presented with a position that allows me to grow and give back, I'd be excited to enter the working world. My aspiration is to continue being a learner forever seeking, asking questions, and changing. I have much more to learn, I'm prepared to make errors, get better, and challenge myself because I know that design is where I'm supposed to be.
